Kali and Ben Lennon

 

Having been born and raised in southern Vermont, I have a great appreciation for all things handmade. It was such a treat as a child being able to connect directly with the makers, learning the story of their craft and the passion that went into their products. Having that connection and being able to pass that story on has become our local. 
 

I knew I wanted to create something that others would appreciate and be able to tell their story.... My first job out of college landed me in Hong Kong (I had never even been to Canada!). Fiery and ready to explore the world, I began my “life” education of what actually goes into the products that are mass-produced and shipped worldwide. I came to realize that every little component has a story. 
 

After traveling and living in different places, I was drawn back to my Vermont roots. Coming home to green mountains, blazing autumn foliage and snow-crested peaks, my heart was full again. I finally crossed paths with husband Ben. We had traveled parallel courses for many years and finally met in my own backyard! 
 

As we were settling into our farmhouse, the time had come to fill it with a table. “The Table” for us had always represented the place everyone comes back to at the end of the day to enjoy a meal of local harvest and to share stories. It’s the place where we carve pumpkins, decorate gingerbread houses and do homework. A place where we celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and Thanksgiving. With this in mind, we knew we wanted a timeless design, something we could hand down to our daughter, Olivia, and she could pass on to her kids. Not having any luck, Ben and I set out and built our own table! This project sparked a passion we both would fall in love with. 
 

Creating these tables together has become the core of our business. All of the wood we source is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified and from our local mills here in Vermont. We also use a lot of repurposed wood from dilapidated barns and historical structures. We carefully hand-select each piece of wood for each build. Then we mill it down and begin the cut and craft process. Using mortise and tenon joinery or post and peg construction, each piece is uniquely handcrafted, which makes every table, chair, bench, barn door or mirror authentic and a direct reflection of our values and who we are. Our hope is that as family and friends gather around the table we created for them, they share their stories, establish traditions and enjoy bountiful food. Eat, drink and be merry!
